Name: Rachid Belmourida
Hometown: Casablanca, Morocco
Rachid Belmourida was born in Casablanca, in a neighborhood known for producing nationally renowned artists, actors and musicians. As a kid, he walked into a community youth center one day and asked about painting classes. There weren't any teachers available, so he was reluctantly enrolled in theater instead. It was there, however, that Rachid fell in love with acting, and began performing plays and comedy sketches anywhere he could: professional theaters, on the street, and even at the beach. (Don't worry, Rachid learned to paint later on in life, becoming a professional painter as well as a violinist.) He has performed and exhibited his work internationally, and has been featured on the 2M Moroccan TV channel.
Rachid's first encounter with improv was through a workshop he attended at the Groundlings Theater in Hollywood. He then found ImprovCity and joined the troupe. Along with improv, he occasionally performs stand up, and is the creator of The Five Families mob sketch, which later became one of ImprovCity's House Team shows.
Rachid is a polyglot, and speaks over 7 languages. While living in Italy, he backpacked across Europe and jammed with street performers along the way. He believes that people, no matter where they are from, connect easily through theater, art and music.
He also has an abiding interest in math and astrophysics, and tries to untangle mysteries of the universe in his spare time.
